Yoga for Climbing “Be aware of the strong pull of the mainstream, go out and try something novel, be an individual and look for your own way in climbing.” Climbing and yoga are similar. In our yoga practice we carry that inspired influence we get with our asana, pranayama and meditation into our daily lives off the mat. In climbing we can carry that inspired feeling we get when our body, mind and spirit interact together up a rock in nature. Yoga and climbing are vehicles for self-discovery if one stays aware with a conscious joyous effort of commitment, discipline, and patience. A desire to integrate the mind with all its thoughts, emotions, perceptions and the body can lead one to a state of metta, loving kindness for ones self, and others. |
